The Surrey Enterprise Hub is an impartial service for people with innovative ideas that have the potential to turn into big businesses quickly. The SEEDA-backed Enterprise Hub Network comprises over 20 locations across the South East. Enterprise Hubs work together to provide a significant and high-impact business support network.
The Surrey Enterprise Hub offers a commercialisation service which, through the careful combination of business support tools, access to incubation premises, and early-stage funding, helps young companies to exploit innovative ideas.
In the early-stage segment of the market which the Surrey Enterprise Hub serves, there is no shortage of concepts but there are many barriers to the commercialisation of ideas. Early-stage innovation is a high-risk activity because of the long development time before revenues flow. Consequently, private sector investors are not interested in early-stage innovators – market failure is therefore undisputed. SEEDA, via the Enterprise Hubs, intervenes to support early-stage innovators.
Enterprise Hubs harness the drive and ambition of local partners and business people – in short, the Surrey Enterprise Hub is entrepreneurial in helping entrepreneurs. The objectives of SEEDA’s Enterprise Hub Network are to promote economic growth by:
- providing a networking forum for local entrepreneurs and early stage businesses;
- providing more intensive support to the most promising entrepreneurs in the network;
- improving entrepreneurial access to technology, research, innovation and business support;
- improving access to early-stage finance
