A strategy for sustaining Surrey's success
17.07.07
Surrey Economic Partnership (SEP) has outlined in its strategy review how it will work with business led organisations, including the IOD, Surrey Chambers of Commerce, CBI, FSB and sector skills councils to boost the local economy by encouraging innovation, creativity and resourcefulness
A business led partnership working closely with the public and voluntary sector, SEP develops strategies and solutions for sustaining success in the Surrey economy with the aim of maintaining the equilibrium between businesses, the environment and the needs of local people.
The partnership itself is showing the way by:
- LEADING setting economic development priorities
- INFLUENCING engaging business in public policy debate
- CO-ORDINATING matching public sector solutions to business problems
The SEP is urging businesses to support it in promoting Surrey as a global business location. It asks businesses to be receptive to ideas, to take up advice and development opportunities on offer, to contribute to intelligence on future skills and training needs and to encourage their staff to develop themselves. On the environmental front, it wants businesses to consider opportunities and techniques for reducing business travel and commuting by harnessing IT and outsourcing solutions. Businesses are also urged to provide case studies to help SEP lobby for investment in areas such us transport infrastructure.
Nigel comments “With the private, voluntary and public sector working together through the Surrey Economic Partnership strategy we certainly have the chance to achieve our vision of creating a world class economy in Surrey that achieves sustainable prosperity”
