Buckinghamshire Economic Partnership Achievements
  • Tony Edwards CEO, has been a very effective Joint Block Lead for the Economy, enterprise and Environment Block of the Local Area Agreement, bringing the business argument to the fore of future decisions.
  • Lynne Cairns was elected Chair of the Bucks and Milton Keynes Rural Towns Network, this SEEDA funded programme has and £875K budget for the seven years it will run.
  • BEP has more than 5000 contacts with businesses on an annual basis, the quarterly Business Leaders Dinners attract on average 60 Managing Directors, Chief Executives and Chairmen of Buckinghamshire based, businesses, alongside representatives from the public and voluntary sector.
  • BEP Board has been strengthened recently with representation from the Institute of Directors and the Federation of Small Businesses, they join the Milton Keynes and North Bucks Chamber and the Thames Valley Chamber on the Board, giving a true business voice to all that BEP strives to achieve for the economy in Bucks.
  • BEP, although only small, has a CSR culture, Lynne is a trustee of Buckinghamshire Community Action, the Rural Community Council for Bucks and Milton Keynes, she is a non-executive Director of the Florence Nightingale Hospice Shops and is a member of the Management Board for SKIDZ – The Aylesbury Motor Project, Tony is a valued mentor for the ‘My Great Business Idea’ competition organised by Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College, and also gives his time to assess grants awarded by the Chiltern Conservation Board.
  • Tony was commissioned to develop and write the Economic Development Strategy for Wycombe District Council, this plan is nearing completion , prior to adoption and implementation
