Regonal PartnersRegional Partnerships

SEEP has developed into an effective organisation which has been able to work closely with SEEDA, SEERA and GOSE on a number of economic related issues and initiatives.

Ensure a strategic dialogue between SEEDA, SEERA, GOSE and local partners on key economic issues facing the South East.

Some of the key activities include the following:

  • The EP’s have played a major role in influencing the Regional Economic Strategy and South East Plan, through consultations with business, provision of expert knowledge and contributing to specific parts of these two documents.
  • The Economic Partnerships are represented on the South East Regional Assembly by the CEO’s and Board representatives of Surrey, Hants, East Sussex, West Sussex and Bucks EPs. Each EP represents an area of key importance in the Assembly portfolio viz. transport, housing, planning, infrastructure and economic development. The representatives are members of working groups and the Executive. They work closely with other members of the Economic partners of SEERA and give regular reports to SEEP.  SEEP ensures that representations are made on key policy areas of the Regional Housing Board and the Regional Transport Board
  • EP’s have played a major role in bringing to the Examination in Public of the draft South East Plan, a sub regional economic and business perspective.
  • At the request of GOSE all EP’s responded to the following questions and the answers were forwarded to Government.  “What lessons can be learned from existing sub regional level work and how can this be applied to multi area agreements and other mechanisms?”  “What are the barriers to private sector engagement in regional strategic decision making and sub regional priorities and solutions?”  “Why should business bother to be engaged?”
  • Milton Keynes EP is leading work with Bucks and Oxfordshire EP’s as well as SEEDA and LSC to remodel and devise a new approach to the Local Skills for Productivity Alliance.
